All good things must come to an end...

Furness Football has organised small sided football tournaments in the Furness area since 2003. We started with our annual Summer 7s tournament at Ulverston Leisure Centre and expanded to offer a Floodlit 7s at Barrow Leisure Centre, a Masters 5s at Barrow 6th Form and an Open Age 5s at Dowdales. We hope that you all enjoyed playing in the tournaments as much as we enjoyed running them.

Unfortunately like all good things, Furness Football has come to an end. Matt & I will no longer be organising competitions under the Furness Football name, therefore we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the teams and players who have took part over the years and made our competitions such a success.

One of the major problems we have encountered is a lack of our own facility to play matches and the proposed development of Barrow Leisure Centre and the poor state of the current pitch in Barrow has meant we do not have a facility in Barrow fit to run a 7-a-side tournament. On top of this we are unable to secure a regular booking at Ulverston apart from during the summer, this has really forced us to go our separate ways as the indoor venues have only one pitch and are not sustainable for two people to run a competition.

Both Matt and I will be organising some small indoor tournaments in the future and I certainly want to keep the Masters tournament going (as I hit 35 this year).
