OPEN INDOOR 5-A-SIDE LEAGUE (MONDAYS @ DOWDALES)

Mix Up with Booking

Due to a mix up with the hall booking at Dowdales we have to move the final week of league fixtures to Barrow 6th Form on Wednesday 10th March.

The cup competition will now be a joint cup with the Masters teams on Wednesday 24th, 31st and 7th April

Dowdales would like us to point out the following rules:

1. Do not open the fire door
2. No smoking on the school grounds
3. Clean, non marking footwear must be used in the hall (I need clarification on this)

RULES

General

1. The ball is not allowed over head height, deliberate over head passes will be penalised by a free kick awarded to the opposition

2. Outfield players may NOT enter the goalkeeper’s area if marked and the goalkeeper may not leave the marked area. If a defensive player enters the area or the goalkeeper leaves the area a penalty will be awarded. If an attacking player enters the area it will be goalkeepers ball.

3. No throw ins, if the ball leave the hall or becomes stuck then the team who never touched the ball last will restart with a kick in.

4. All free-kicks are direct – teams must retreat 3 yards at a free-kick or stand on the edge of their penalty area.

5. All teams MUST wear the same colour shirt, bibs will be provided to one team in the case of a clash of colours.

6. All players must be male and over the age of 16 by 31st December 2008.

Disciplinary

7. Players may be sin binned by the referee for a 2 minute period once during a match rather than receiving a yellow card. Any player sent off will receive an immediate one match ban. Violent behaviour will result in a longer ban from all Furness Football competitions.

8. The referee is always right, don’t argue!

9. League match duration will be 20 minutes, 10 minutes per half.

Goalkeepers

10. Are not allowed outside their area. If deemed deliberate the goalkeeper will be sin binned.

11. Once the goalkeeper rolls or kicks the ball into play, the ball must touch at least two players before going back to the keeper. If only one team mate touches the ball and passes it back to the goalkeeper a freekick will be awarded to the attacking team 3-5 yards outside the area.

Players

12. A team shall consist of a squad up to 8 players per match. A rolling substitution system is in operation, however substitutions may only take place when the ball is dead and the referee has been informed. No more than 5 players per team may be on the field at any time.

13. Players can only play for one team per season, however if a team is short of players on the night the opposition CAN offer to loan one or more of their players in the interest of a good game.

14. Players must be registered with Furness Football, if a team is fielding a player who is not registered they must inform the Furness Football representative and fill out a registration form. Players can be registered at any time by visiting: www.furnessfootball.co.uk

15. In the interests of creating a competitive tournament, teams are limited to 3 first team Saturday league players

Safety

16. All players MUST wear shin pads

17. Slide tackles are not allowed regardless of whether the ball is taken first.

Competitions

18. The Open 5-A-Side Tournament will be made up of 16 teams playing in two leagues at Barrow 6th Form and Dowdales Sports Hall. Teams will play all other teams in their league twice to determine their final league position.

19. The top two teams form each league will play for the Champions Shield.

20. Points awarded during any league phase of competition will be as follows: WIN 3 points, DRAW 1 point, LOSE 0 points.

21. If two teams are tied on points in the league their placing will be decided by firstly: their head to head, secondly goal difference, thirdly goals scored and finally by the toss of a coin.

Postponing Matches

22. Teams may not postpone or cancel any matches. With our indoor league we have a tight schedule and must honour all fixtures.
